A diesel laden tanker has spilled its content at Obadeyi axis along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
The incident occurred around 6:10 am on Thursday.
In a statement, Adebayo Taofiq, director of public affairs of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), said the tanker was coming from Abule Egba.
The statement added that the driver lost control at Obadeyi.

Taofiq said the driver of the tanker absconded after the incident, adding that residents moved to the scene to scoop diesel.
The LASTMA spokesperson said the officials of the agency chased away scoopers and cordoned off the entire vicinity.
“After arriving at the scene, LASTMA personnel immediately called the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services including LASEMA response unit (LRU) and immediately secured the environment against area boys and other members of the public who had started scooping diesel with buckets/jerry cans,” the statement reads.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the fallen tanker fully loaded with diesel was coming from Abule-Egba going to Ijaye before the driver lost control due to a brake failure at Obadeyi.
“There is traffic diversion at Hamadiya by Hamadiya hospital way.”
