Ese Owie, Edo south senatorial candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP), has mourned the death of Osato Ize-Iyamu, an aide to Adams Oshiomhole when he was Edo governor.
In a statement on Sunday, Owie said Ize-Iyamu will be remembered as a great leader who treated everyone with great respect.
He described him as a “fine gentleman” whose life epitomised the “core principles of the corporal works of mercy and charity”.
The statement read: “Following the demise of my brother and friend, Sir Osato Ize Iyamu, I condole the Ize Iyamu family particularly my sister – his wife, Ifueko, the children and the Chief Mourner of the family, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu.

“As colleagues in the Cabinet of The Edo State Government led by Comrade Oshiomhole, he will be remembered as a great leader who treated everyone with respect. Never once did I hear him raise his voice. He valued people and welcomed ideas. We collaborated closely on public service initiatives.
“He was a devoted husband, kind father, a devout Catholic, and a fine gentleman. A humanitarian per excellence, a peace maker and bridge builder.
“He will be sorely missed, but I am consoled by the fact that his life epitomised the core principles of the corporal works of mercy and charity. May he rest peacefully in the bosom of our Creator, Amen.”
