The Benue state police command confirmed the killing, saying the incident took place on Saturday night.

The late Kwaghger lectured at the mechanical engineering department of the university.

Catherine Anene, the command’s spokesperson, said the lecturer’s body was found around 11pm within the Tarka Foundation premises in the state.

The state-owned Tarka Foundation houses a hotel and many other sports facilities that draw people almost round the clock.

Anene, however, said the command is yet to make any arrest or unravel the reason behind the killing, but added that investigation is ongoing.

Earlier in the week, TheCable had reported how a senior lecturer of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna state, was abducted alongside his wife and daughter.

The kidnappers reportedly broke into the residence of the victim, who is said to be a lecturer of the department of physiology.
