Lekan Fatodu donates website to Lagos APC

Lekan Fatodu, journalist and PR consultant, has donated a website to the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during the presentation, Fatodu said the website will help to prevent the spread of false information by “shady individuals”.

“Being a communication expert and a committed party member, it has become a duty for me to step in to help fill an obvious and detrimental gap in the information architecture of the party in the state. And this has become expedient on many fronts,” he said.

“Apart from the fact that this effort will help tremendously in enabling effective and timely dissemination of information to members, it will also help to mitigate the spread of false information by shady individuals who are parading a fake website of the party to confuse members in the state.

“Recently, the Lagos APC was compelled to release a press statement debunking a fake website that was asking members of the APC in the state to register on their fictitious website.

“Even the party at the national level had to battle online with some unscrupulous elements who attempted to mislead the public with similar antics before a new website was announced by the national office.

“So, given the reality that the best way to fight negativity is to accentuate positivity, this new portal is presented to urgently confront the mischief makers and to continuously serve the good members of the Lagos APC with relevant and up-to-date information on the development and endeavours of the Lagos APC and the national body.”

The new website, www.officialagosapcng.com, is modelled after the portal of the party’s national body.

According to Fatodu, it was deliberately done to ensure that the Lagos APC’s presence in the cyber space is in tandem with the outlook of the national party on the internet.

“The newly-developed website is also an-easy-to-use portal for all members of the Lagos APC regardless of their backgrounds. It’s beautifully designed and features rich content which includes video-sharing tool, mailing list, news updates, names and designations of the state executives amongst others,” he said.

Commenting on the development, Tunde Balogun, chairman of the Lagos chapter of APC, said: “We are very pleased by this thoughtful and valuable gesture.

“Your effort is clearly an indication of the quality of people that dominate our great party, the APC, not just in Lagos state but across the country.

“We are problem-solvers; and this effort speaks volumes of the commitment of our party and all our members in proffering solutions to any identified problems around us whether big or small.”
