A letter to Dave Alonge on association of lazy youths

BY IBRAHIM BALA

Dear Dave Alonge, I am sure you are not unaware of the $15billion Shell Group told Mr President (PMB) that they are willing and preparing to invest in Nigeria, the honest question is: why do we as a people accustomed to dwell on primordial sentiments, frivolities and mere words, ignoring real action while we continue to chase shadows.

Thus, the issue of de-marketing Nigeria doesn’t even arise for even though Mr President was quoted out of context and twisted his assertions, I make bold to say as an associate of the Nigerian youths, truly speaking most of our youths are not only lazy but very lazy and here’s why: both the employed and unemployed youths in Naija waste precious time betting and watching foreign football, watching BBN which to my greatest pain isn’t even staged and aired in Nigeria but in far South Africa but for the lazy local pride in us we still call it BBNaija, the worst is the time our younger generation now kill on social media platforms next to doing nothing rather than wasting time and gossiping.

There’s hardly any productive venture by our youths today rather than buying or even begging for mobile data or call card to engage on social media creating wealth for others in the process while becoming poorer by the day because of our vast investments in liabilities instead of assets.

Come to think of it Alonge, why do we the youths continue to allow ourselves to be brainwashed by the same elder evil politicians that have led us and our dear nation to this sorry state?

Have we no dreams or future? Power they say concedes nothing, without a demand, do you and other youths folks think or believe that these same mindless plunderers will allow us the youths a table in the polity or even to lead as they continue to tell us since our primary days that youths are the leaders of tomorrow, when shall our tomorrow come Alonge?

PMB is the only truthful and incorruptible of all our living tested but not trusted leaders, we knew why the looters ganged up against him because he’s not one of their own. Why do you think the same PMB the looters and destroyers love to hate contested about four times and even cried in the process to become Nigeria’s president?

The reason isn’t far-fetched, for someone who has been there before and at home with the problems and challenges, his intervention is to collapse the bad foundations of Nigeria and our society and build a stronger foundation that the youths will harness and improve upon to realize our potential as a people as well as a nation for betterment.

My take is this: this is a clarion call to all Nigerian youths to come to a common agreement and term to resist being brainwashed, confused, divided, and mislead by the old order poisonous politicians fanning the flames of hatred and divisions in order to continue their heinous crimes against us and our dear country.
