LG Electronics, producers of residential, and industrial appliances, has announced the launch of a business to business (B2B) academy to empower Nigerians and other industry stakeholders.
The firm said the facility will serve as a hub for industry trade professionals to learn about the latest technologies available, sharpen their installation and maintenance skills, and ultimately deliver better product recommendations and services to their customers.
Speaking at the launch in Lagos, Shawn Chang, the firm’s director of Africa air solutions business, said the academy was developed to also support all “our customers, partners and our stakeholders”.
On the rationale behind the concept, Prabhjeet Channa, LG’s regional director of Africa HVAC engineering, said while the company manages 25 countries from Nigeria, what was missing was a proper training institute.

“When I say institute, it is developing the skill of the country that seeks knowledge. So, Nigeria and other neighboring countries, they were seeking knowledge and this is the right place to gain the experience and the knowledge that they are lacking,” he said.
The firm, in a statement, said the facility would host “thousands” of training courses, guiding professionals through a spectrum of topics, spanning both the residential and commercial sectors, including installation, software evaluation, and best practices for servicing LG air solutions products.
The courses, according to manufacturer, are designed to cover technical installation and service training, with an emphasis on ducted and duct-free, “VRF, heat pump water heater and control solutions”.

“We will have a proper curriculum from the basics to the advanced training curriculums. Basics is for the learners, the beginners. Beginners will have their own training sessions, like to understand how the compressor works, what is the fan, how does it operate,” Channa added.
On his part, Ali Fouani, director at Fouani Nigeria Limited, said the academy would help a lot in career placement and “give advantage to the industry” in terms of experienced manpower.
He said participants will learn how to implement efficient and practical ways for sustainability.
The facility is the firm’s second training center in Nigeria. The first was established in 2012 in the University of Lagos.

The organisation said registration details will be announced next week.
