Like senate, house of reps postpones resumption

The house of representatives has postponed its resumption date from July 21 to July 28.

M.A Sano-Omolori, clerk of the lower chamber, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday.

“This is to inform all honourable members of the house of representatives of the postponement of resumption of plenary session from the adjourned date of Tuesday, 21st July 2015 to Tuesday, 28th July 2015,” the statement read.

“Honourable members are advised to take note of the new date of resumption accordingly, please.”

However, no reason was given for the postponement.

On Friday, the senate announced a shift in its resumption date and also failed to disclose the reason behind the development.

But a source told TheCable that the senators want to use the opportunity of President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to the United States to resolve the crisis rocking the upper chamber.

A similar situation is also playing out at the house of reps.

Both chambers have been engulfed in crisis since the emergence of the leadership of the 8th assembly.
