LISTEN: Gospel singer Meme Rise joins Eben’s music label, releases new song

Meme Umokoro, the Nigerian gospel singer better known as Meme Rise, has come through with her new single titled ‘Wonderful Wondered’. 

Meme Rise was unveiled as the latest signee of Hammer House Records, a music label owned by Emmanuel ‘Eben’ Benjamin, the gospel singer.

During a press conference on Tuesday in Lagos, the music label also announced a partnership with SG Musik Record to promote the Edo-born singer.

Eben, the CEO of Hammer House Records, spoke about the significance of signing Meme Rise. The ‘Victory’ hitmaker also called for public support for the singer. 

“It is a music label. We wanted Meme Rise to be officially introduced to the people and the media. With your help and collaboration, this launch, this artiste will be in the ears and the faces of the public,” he said. 

Andrew, a representative of SG Musik, said the company is interested in promoting raw talents in Nigeria, including Meme Rise. 

“My name is Andrew and I am here to represent SG Musik. SG Musik believes in raw talent. We are not afraid to bring a talented Nigerian forward. We believe in people who looking to have a future in music. We are here to collaborate with Hammer House,” he said. 

On her part, Meme Rise described ‘Wonderful Wondered’ as a way God intends to show people “He can do all things”.

“I think Wonderful Wondered is planned by the Almighty God. God brought this to you. He wants to show people who do not believe that He can do all things. So when I look at the wonderful works of God, I cannot but tell it to the Lord that He is a wonderful God,” she said.

Umokoro was born in April 1980, in Edo. She had her primary school education in the state before proceeding to study at the University of Benin where she graduated in 2003.

She met her husband in 2005. Their marriage is blessed with five kids. 

Prior to the collaboration, Meme Rise already made a mark in the music industry with several hit tracks released under SG Musik.

She released her first music album in 2007.

Meme Rise is also a fashion designer. She serves as a worship leader in her church.
