Liverpool snatch Adekanye from Barcelona

Liverpool have completed the signing of the highly-rated Barcelona starlet Bobby Adekanye.

The 16-year-old will join up with the Reds’ Under-18 team this summer after leaving the Catalan giant, via a loan spell with PSV, despite being one of the most promising talents at La Masia.

Adekanye, who was born in Nigeria but raised in the Netherlands from age four, was one of the transfers FIFA accused Barca of making illegally which earned them a ban.

This impasse has affected the left-footed winger who was not allowed to compete for the reigning UEFA Champions League winners until their transfer ban is over in January 2016. As a result, he grew increasingly impatient and wanted a move away from the club he joined in 2011 from Ajax.

Liverpool have provided that opportunity.

Hopefully, the player touted as the new Arjen Robben, can follow in the footsteps of fellow precocious young wingers like Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe who moved from the Anfield academy into the first-team.
