Loser to winner: Fate hands Achu ‘Star The Winner Is’ prize

In what could be described as the most unusual shocking twist of all times, Star The Winner Is, Nigeria’s first music game show presented the most epic climax to the maiden season of the show over the weekend.

After six semi finalists went against one another, the battle for the life-changing grand prize of N10 million and a brand new car intensified in the final round, with two great singers, Job Idoko and Micheal Achu, delivering the best of their vocal chords to wear the much-desired winning crown.

The highlight of the night was presented after both contestants had proved their vocal prowess, it was decision time.

In line with the tradition of the show, both contestants were offered N2million to walk away or wait to see the 101 Jury results, which would reveal who actually won the duel round and would be going home with a brand new car and N10 million.

Both contestants were tested with money and Job fell for the pressure, choosing to walk away with the money on the table, which automatically qualified Micheal as the winner of Star The Winner Is Season 1.

When the result was revealed, Job had higher votes, but he had opted to walk away with N2million, thereby forfeiting his winning spot toAchu.

Fate and destiny definitely smiled on eventual winner Achu, as it would have turned a bitter experience for him. Had Job not pressed the dreadful buzzer to walk away with N2 million, Achu would have gone home empty-handed.
