The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) on Friday conferred Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on 17 Nigerian legal practitioners.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja at the Supreme Court, Mr Sunday Olorundahunsi, LPPC secretary and chief registrar of the court, said the committee found the awardees worthy of the title at the end of its general meeting held in Abuja on Friday.

According to him, out of an initial 109 legal practitioners that applied, 23 were shortlisted, before the final confirmation of the 17 new senior advocates.

He explained that two academics made the final list and that although three female lawyers applied for the prestigious award this year, none of them got it.
