Lulu-Briggs’ widow loses appeal against release of late billionaire’s remains

Seinye, widow of Benson Lulu-Briggs, founder of Moni Pulo limited, has lost her appeal for a stay of execution of the high court judgement that ordered her to release the remains of her late husband for burial.

She has, however, headed to the supreme court for further hearing.

The Ghanaian apex court is expected to hear the matter by March 2020.

In December, a Ghanaian high court had ordered the release of the remains of Lulu-Briggs to his family to be conveyed to Nigeria for burial but Seinye filed a motion against the order at the country’s court of appeal.

In its ruling on Monday, the appellate court said Seinye should have complied with the order of the high court.

The court said it no longer had a say in the judgement as she had already taken the case to the supreme court.

“The judgement of the Ghana high court is self explicit and explanatory and ought to be complied with but Dr. Mrs. Seinye Lulu-Briggs having gone ahead to the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling, the Appeal court can no longer say anything on the judgement, ” the judge held.

” On these grounds, I have no other choice but to dismiss the appeal of Dr. Mrs. Seinye Lulu-Briggs. ”

Reacting to the judgement, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, second eldest son of the deceased, said Seinye would also lose at the apex court.

“Seinye has lost before and has lost this one too, she will definitely lose again by the grace of God who has been our strength and fortress through these harrowing times,” he said.
