The N30m ($150,000) pearl studded gown worn by African actress, Lupita Nyong’o, to the 87th Oscar award on Sunday has been stolen.
According to BBC, the stunning custom-made Calvin Klein collection by Francisco Costa dress was stolen from her hotel room in London.
The Kenya superstar made the headlines on Sunday night as her glamorous gown hit the Oscars red carpet as one of the best for the night.
Los Angeles Times was wowed by the dress, which was encrusted with 6,000 white Akoya pearls, that the Times had to query: “How can you not be impressed by the workmanship on this pearl-palooza?”

The “fortune” was stolen when Nyong’o was away from her luxurious Los Angeles (LA) The London hotel room, just off Sunset Boulevard.
The police have been investigating the theft, William Nash, a lieutenant with LA County Sheriff’s Department, said.
The 31-year-old Kenyan won Best Supporting Actress in 2014 at the 86th Oscar for her role in Twelve Years a Slave, a biographic movie written by Solomon Northup.

Although no arrests have been made, Nash said the dress appeared to have been stolen on Wednesday evening and officers were checking CCTV footage.
According to Nyong’o, the dress was an homage to Prince, an American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
“I’m just wearing my diamonds and pearls. My homage to (musician) Prince,” she said to Associated Press.
“We talked about it being fluid and liquid. I wanted it to be an homage to the sea.”
