President Emmanuel Macron of France has tested positive for COVID-19.
The presidential Elysee Palace announced Macron’s COVID-19 status in a statement on Thursday.
It said the president took a test “as soon as the first symptoms appeared”.
It added that Macron would isolate himself for seven days.

“He will continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance,” the presidential palace said.
According to Worldometres, there are over 74 million cases of COVID-19 globally, and while over 1.6 million have died of complications from the disease, more than 52 million people have recovered.
