Harry Maguire, Manchester United defender and captain, has been arrested in the Greek island of Mykonos for allegedly assaulting officers after a brawl, local newspapers said.
According to Proto Thema, a Greek online newspaper, Maguire was detained for questioning after a brawl in a bar on Thursday night.
The newspaper said that police were called by locals at 00:30 to report that two groups of Englishmen were fighting outside a bar on the island.
The report added that three Englishmen attacked the policemen verbally and physically when they intervened.

The trio, which included Maguire, were then reportedly taken to Mykonos police station where it was alleged the confrontation with two officers continued leading to their arrest.
Manchester United have also issued a statement on the 27-year-old centre-half’s arrest.
“The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night,” the club statement said.

“Contact has been made with Harry and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities. At this time we will be making no further comment.”
The former Leicester player went to Mykonos for holiday after he was left “devastated” by the Red Devils’ Europa League exit in Germany last week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad have been given two weeks off before the start of United’s Premier League campaign next month.
