Makarfi heads electoral committee as PDP holds primary poll in Kogi Sunday

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Ahmed Makarfi, former governor of Kaduna, as chairperson of the electoral committee to conduct the primary election in Kogi.

The primary election is scheduled to hold on Sunday in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi.

Members of the committee include Erelu Mark, Ikechukwu Nwosu, Deolu Harrison, Usman Ibrahim, Anthony Onwuka, and Laureta Ogwuche serving as secretary.

In a statement issued on Friday, Umar Bature, national organising secretary, said the committee members were expected to conduct the election in accordance with the provisions of the electoral act.

“In carrying out this assignment, you are expected to be guided strictly by the PDP constitution (2017 as amended), the electoral guidelines for party primary elections, and the 2022 electoral act,” the statement reads.

“It is expected that your exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during your assignment will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of the party.”

Those contesting for the party’s governorship ticket include Dino Melaye, Yomi Awoniyi, Attai Aidoko, Kebiru Usman and Abdullahi Haruna, Zakaria Alfa, Musa Wada, Bolu Femi, and Idoko Idah.
