Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, has asked security operatives in the state to step up efforts on ensuring safe movement on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The governor spoke on Thursday after an emergency meeting with the heads of security agencies in the state.
Present at the meeting included officers of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In a statement issued after the meeting, Abiodun said security chiefs have received the directive to “make life unbearable” for perpetrators of crime along the expressway.

“We held an emergency meeting with security chiefs today against the background of the upsurge in untoward activities by criminal elements on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” he said.
“The chiefs have marching orders to make life unbearable for those criminals who have decided to make the corridor and indeed any part of Ogun State, their attack haven.
“We will not relent in ensuring adequate security of lives and property of Ogun State residents and anyone travelling through the State during this period and anytime at that.”

The development comes amid attacks on travellers plying the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, with several persons injured and kidnapped in recent times.
