Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, has inaugurated a 10-man committee to oversee the disbursement of relief funds to victims of the January explosion in the Bodija area of Ibadan, the state capital.
On January 16, at least five residents died and many sustained injuries in an explosion that occurred at Adeyi Avenue in the Bodija area of Ibadan.
The explosion, which, according to Makinde, was caused by illegal miners who stored explosive devices in an apartment in the area, left several houses destroyed.
While inaugurating the committee, the governor said it is to oversee the management and disbursement of the relief fund to those who lost properties to the explosion.
