Seyi Makinde, Oyo governor, has sworn in all the 33 newly elected LGA chairpersons in the state.
The event took place on Friday.
The governor, who was represented at the ceremony by Bayo Lawal, his deputy, urged the chairpersons to prioritise the wellbeing of people at the grassroots.
Makinde implored them to replicate his “developmental strides” at the grassroots, while warning that poor performances would be frowned at.

Segun Olayiwola, the state commissioner for LG and chieftaincy matters, asked the chairpersons to leave people’s lives better than they met it.
Olayiwola also urged them to cooperate if they want to achieve considerable development and congratulated them for their victories at the polls.
He said they won the elections due to the governor’s commitment to fairness, transparency and accountability.

The highlight of the occasion was the administering of oaths of office and allegiance to the chairpersons by Iyabo Yerima, chief judge of the state.
