Man arrested for ‘defiling’ his three daughters

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra state command, has arrested a 48-year-old man, for allegedly defiling his three daughters.

The man, identified as Thomas Igbo, was paraded by the command on Thursday.

In a statement, Edwin Okadigbo, spokesman to the Anambra NSCDC commandant, said the suspect confessed to the crime.

“On 24/05/2021 at about 11:00hrs, based on the complaints to the Command by an NGO Child Protection Network (CPN) that a man had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of his biological daughters aged 8, 3, 18 months, the State Commandant of NSCDC Anambra State Command, Comdt David Bille, FCIA, raised and instructed a team of detectives from the Intelligence and Investigation Department to effect the arrest of the suspect,” the statement reads.

“The team immediately swung into action through intelligence-led operation and at about 16:00hrs same day and arrested one Mr. Igbo Thomas.

“Upon intorregation, the suspect initially denied, but when he was confronted by his daughters, he became dumbfounded and confessed to have committed the crime but under the influence of alcohol.

“The children were quickly taken to the hospital for medical attention.”

He added that investigation into the incident had commenced, while the suspect would be charged to court.

In a related development, a resident identified as Solomon Isaac, said to hail from Kogi, “was arrested when he jumped into the office premises” of the NSCDC.

According to the statement, Isaac “confessed to being chased by some cultists who were trailing him before he jumped into the premises of NSCDC”.
