Gabriel Jesus scored two late goals as Manchester City defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter on Tuesday night at the Etihad stadium.
Although Wolves equalised after an own goal had put City ahead, Jesus restored the lead and added gloss in the final minute, while a Riyad Mahrez beauty also ensured Man City secured their 21st consecutive win in all competitions.
The Cityzens started the brighter and more purposeful side with Kevin de Bruyne and Mahrez combining to punish Wolves’ lethargy.
The Belgian international found Mahrez with a ball over the top, while the Algerian winger’s cross could only be turned into goal by Leandro Dendoncker for 1-0 lead to City on 15 minutes.

The runaway leaders continued to pummel Wolves but were missing the final ball, while desperate defending also spared the visitors’ blushes.
Aymeric Laporte, however, had a goal chalked off for offside just before halftime and Pep Guardiola’s men went into the break with the one-goal lead.
City began the second half like they finished the first with De Bruyne narrowly missing a chance on goal. But it was Wolves that got an unlikely equalizer with their first shot of the game after the hour mark through Connor Coady.

The Wolves captain met Joao Moutinho’s free kick with a diving header that nestled into the bottom corner for his first goal in three years.
Jesus, Brazilian striker, smacked a poorly cleared ball into the corner from 10 yards for 2-1 on 80 minutes, while Mahrez extended the lead with a curled shot to the far corner on the stroke of 90 minutes.
Jesus would have the final say with what could be described as the last kick of the game, tapping in the rebound from three yards after Rui Patricio parried Ilkay Gundogan’s shot into his path.
Manchester City have won 14 consecutive EPL matches in their 21-match winning sequence, and they are now unbeaten in 28 games in all competitions — 19 of them in the EPL.

The Qatari-backed side also extended their lead over second placed Man United, their local rivals, to 15 points afer amassing 65 points from 27 matches.
