Manchester City reached the semi-final stage of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) despite a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in their quarter-final second leg tie at Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Erling Haaland was on hand to punish his former nemesis again, this time in Germany, as the former Borussia Dortmund striker scored to ensure a 4-1 aggregate victory for Man City.

Haaland missed a penalty in the 37th minute, firing wide, but the Norwegian was on hand to smash in Kevin de Bruyne’s pass to give Man City the lead in the 57th minute.

Bayern equalised seven minutes to the end from the penalty spot, with Joshua Kimmich converting after VAR adjudged Manuel Akanji handled the ball in the penalty area.

The aggregate win means Man City are in the semi-finals for a third consecutive season.

Pep Guardiola’s side will meet Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s tie at the same stage.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan were held to a 3-3 draw by Benfica but sailed through to the semis with a 5-3 aggregate win. They face AC Milan, local rivals, in the last four stage.
