Man jumps into Lagoon from Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge

A yet-to-be-identified man has jumped into the lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge in Lagos state.

The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

According to witnesses, the victim was a dispatch rider who parked his operational motorbike on the bridge before diving into the Lagoon.

TheCable understands that hawkers and passersby who saw him before the incident thought he wanted to fix his bike when he parked on the bridge.

Rescue efforts are currently ongoing at the scene while the area has been cordoned off by the police.

In a Twitter post, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, confirmed the incident.

Hundeyin said police officers were at the scene, controlling the crowd while the rescue mission was making efforts to bring out the victim.
