In the flurry of activities before the announcement of Jose Mourinho as manager, Manchester United are set to break new grounds in monetary terms.
A sixth place finish, in the least, next season in the English Premier League will see United take their prize money haul into a staggering ten-figure sum, according to a research by Spreadex published by the Mirror.
United have earned more in EPL prize money than any other team, having won the title 13 times, nine times more than the closest rival, Chelsea.
If prospective new boss Mourinho can steer United to at least a top-six finish next season then United, currently on £870.3million, will pass the landmark figure.

Arsenal are second on the all-time Premier League prize money table with £842.8m, followed by Liverpool (£815.4m), Chelsea (£815.4m), Tottenham (£750.3m) and Manchester City (£723.5m).
Despite winning the Premier League last season, Leicester are down in 25th place, having earned £247.7m in prize money, with £93.2m received last season alone.
A total of £14.8bn has been paid out by the Premier League over the course of the last 24 years, with clubs receiving £1.64bn between them last season.

Two of the 49 clubs in the table include Notts County and Luton, each with £1.49m, despite them never having played in the Premier League.
They benefited from parachute payments paid out after they got relegated in the old First Division’s final season.
Andy Mackenzie, of Spreadex, said: “With the Premier League’s 25th anniversary next year, we thought it would be interesting to see the full amounts that clubs have been awarded in prize money over the years.
“The prize money awarded to clubs is staggering – even teams that finish in the relegation positions now receive amounts that are eye-watering by anyone’s standards.

“With 24 years of consistent growth, this shows the Premier League is arguably the most marketable and successful sports league worldwide.”
