Manchester United began the defence of their Carabao Cup title with a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in their third-round match on Tuesday night.

The underperforming English Premier League (EPL) side set aside their recent troubles as goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial handed them a handsome win in the less-fancied competition.

The win is United’s highest margin of victory so far this season.

Garnacho completed a team move to give the Red Devils the lead before Casemiro headed in from a corner kick for the second.

Martial sealed in the second half with a clinical finish.

The win takes Erik ten Hag’s side into the last 16 of the competition.

Their next opponents will be revealed in a draw scheduled for Wednesday night.
