Mandate secretary: FCT will soon take strategic place on world tourism map

Ibrahim Aminu, mandate secretary, social development secretariat of the federal capital territory authority (FCTA), says the nation’s capital will soon take a strategic place in the tourism map of the world.

Aminu spoke during the weekend at the 2023 Tourism Volunteers Summit in Abuja organised by the FCT Volunteers Network.

Represented by Musa Mamma, an official of FCT social development secretariat, the mandate secretary said a nation needs a developed tourism sector to boost its economy.

“Tourism plays an essential role in the economy. I am confident that the summit will be a great success and will help us to promote tourism in FCT and Africa at large,” he said.

“We assure you that soon Abuja will claim a strategic position in the tourism map of the world.”

On his part, Phil Roberts, team lead of the FCT Volunteers Network, said the summit is aimed at “rejuvenating the patriotic spirit of all Nigerians, especially the FCT citizens”.

“The FCT Tourism Volunteers Network is designed to be the biggest orientation platform for tourism education, promotion, advocacy for the protection of our tourist sites and also help in discovering tourism sites in collaboration with the FCT tourism department,” Roberts said.

He added that FCT residents should use their skills for the promotion of tourism as a tool for socio-economic growth.
