Many youths have been feared killed following a clash between Acid and Achis confraternities in Awarra Court, Ohaji-Egbema LGA of Imo state.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, was said to have started when the cult members engaged in a gun duel over supremacy and territoriality.

An indigene of the community who spoke to TheCable said the cultists shot more than 10 persons and burnt some alive.

He added that residents have fled the community due to the chaos.

“The problem started in the early hours of today when cult members started exchanging gunshots in Awarra Court Area. They shot so many people dead and burnt some alive. I cannot count the number of victims but I am sure they were more than 10 persons who lost their lives,” the source said.

“These two cult groups have been flexing muscles since one month and having some pockets of fighting for some time. I do not know for certain what triggered today’s clash that led to the killing of many.

“As I speak, so many people living in Awarra Court Area have run away for their lives because the war is still raging. The security agents are nowhere to be found.”
