Market capitalisation dips by N34bn

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) depreciated by N34 billion or 0.25 per cent on Thursday, as major capitalised stocks recorded price losses.

Reports from the trading floor indicate that the market capitalisation closed lower at N13.560 trillion from the N13.594 trillion recorded on Wednesday.

Also, the All-Share Index, which opened at 41,171.16, dropped by 102.23 points to close at 41,068.93.

Nestle led the losers’ chart by N20 to close at N1,050 per share.

Nigerian Breweries depreciated by N2 to close at N165, while Dangote Cement lost 81k to close at N226.20 per share.

Zenith Bank dipped by 80k to close at N24, while Champion fell by 56k to close at N11.26 per share.

On the other hand, Seplat led the gainers’ chart by N9 to close at N670 per share.

Conoil gained N2.96 to close at N62.23 per share, while MRS Oil grew by N2.83 to close at N59.44 per share.

Oando Oil appreciated by N2.83 to close at N27.56 per share, while Ashaka Cement gained N1.37 to closed at N28.88 per share.

Transcorp emerged as the most traded stock, accounting for 47.95 million shares worth N220.34 million.

FCMB exchanged 32.93 million shares valued at N139.34 million, while Access Bank sold 24.25 million shares worth N236.09 million.

Oando Oil traded 23.31 million shares valued at N642.12 million, while GTBank sold 22.97 million shares worth N667.62 million.

In all, investors exchanged a total of 317.766 million shares worth N4.19 billion in 5,162 deals against the 295.935 million shares valued at N5.43 billion traded in 6,335 deals on Wednesday.
