Marketing Edge, Nigeria’s marketing and advertising publication, says it will host an ‘Evening of Tributes’ to celebrate Abiodun Shobanjo, chairperson of Insight Communications Limited, at 80 years.
In a statement on Tuesday, the media firm said the event will take place on December 17 at the Agip Recital Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.
According to the statement, the event will bring together some of Nigeria’s top business and marketing leaders, including CEOs from major banks, advertising thought leaders, policymakers, and heads of industry groups.
John Ajayi, the chief executive officer of Marketing Edge, said the event is an opportunity to honour “a man whose work is remarkable in the advertising industry”.

“The proposed evening of tributes for this legendary advertising professional is more than just an event; it is an opportunity to honor a man whose work continues to inspire and whose leadership has left a permanent mark on the advertising industry,” Ajayi said.
According to the organisers, Shobanjo, also known as the “Doyen of Advertising,” devoted 57 years “in career sojourn to the industry”, adding that the evening event would offer a chance to document his contributions, ensuring that his legacy is preserved.
The organisers also said the honoree is known for his visionary leadership and transformative impact, spanning decades of pioneering work that has shaped Nigeria’s broader economic development beyond advertising.
