Marketing Edge, a marketing and advertising magazine, was named PR magazine of the year at the 2021 Lagos PR Industry Gala Awards (LaPRIGA).
The award ceremony themed ‘Glitterati: Will Celebrate the Best of the Industry and Key Stakeholders’, took place over the weekend in Lagos.
The event, which is in its sixth edition, was organised by the Lagos state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Commenting on the award, John Ajayi, publisher/managing director, Marketing Edge magazine, said: “We work in line with our constitutional role of agenda-setting. It is not about laurels, it’s about our passion for professional excellence. On that score, we know we can always have some scores.”

Comfort Nwankwo, chairman, NIPR Lagos state chapter, appreciated industry stakeholders for their contribution to the practice of public relations.
“The LaPRIGA Awards has evolved to become the PR industry Oscars by adding new colours, dimensions, and values and recognizing best accomplishments in reputation management, relationship management, and support for marketing functions,” she said.
On his part, Yomi Okusanya, president, Africa Public Relations Association (APRA), commended the NIPR Lagos state chapter for sustaining the award for the past six years.

Okusanya added that recognition is important for the practice.
Also speaking at the event, Muktar Sirajo, national president of NIPR, noted that the ability of the Lagos state chapter to sustain the award ceremony shown its significance.
“There is no better way to appreciate ourselves than what the Lagos State Chapter is doing. Programmes like this give people room to propel themselves,” Sirajo said.
