Marwa for Adamawa governorship ‘a done business’

Erstwhile military administrator of Lagos, Buba Marwa, says there is no longer any question that he would contest next year’s Adamawa state governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Marwa, who was also a military administrator of Borno state, only recently returned to PDP after a spell with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

But he says any bad blood that crossing over to the opposition might have generated has now been sorted out

“I am running in the next election by the grace of God,” said the former Nigerian ambassador to South Africa, who was interacting with state house correspondents after a meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo at the presidential villa.

“And I think that it [running on PDP’s ticket] is a concluded business. PDP is looking for good men who will win elections and I am one of them by the grace of God.”

Marwa also spoke his plans for developing Adamawa should he emerge governor in 2015.

“Adamawa State in comatose state after Nyako’s administration,” he said.

“It is half-dead and it needs a Marwa to resuscitate it and bring it back to where it belongs.”

He revealed that his plans for the state include free education, free healthcare, and infrastructure.

“The roads that I did in Lagos – like 700 – we will double them in Adamawa, if not more by the grace of God,” he boasted.

“The water supply, the most difficult area in the country is Borno state. I was governor [military administrator] there and I did over 1,000 boreholes and wells. Agriculture, fishery, jobs for the youth. We will work for the PDP and the people.”

He was not as detailed when he was asked how he would tackled Borno’s Boko Haram challenge, given his military background.

“It is my job as you know,” he simply said.
