Two officers have been killed following an attack on a police station in Oji-River LGA of Enugu state.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday at the Arum Inyi police division.

The hoodlums reportedly set the station ablaze and made away with guns and ammunition.

Confirming this to TheCable, Daniel Ndukwe said police operatives are currently on the trail of the masked assailants.

“Police operatives are on the trail of the masked hoodlums. Further development will be communicated, please,” Ndukwe said.

Security operatives in Enugu have been under constant attacks in the past few months.

On September 7, TheCable reported that three police officers on night patrol were killed by gunmen in the state.

Also on September 27, gunmen attacked a combined security team of police and military officers at a checkpoint in Amodu, Nkanu West LGA of the state.

Amid the attacks on security formations and facilities in the south east, there have been reports that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) intends to disturb the 2023 elections in the geopolitical zone.

However, on Saturday, the group debunked the claims, saying it has no plan of disrupting the poll.
