The Inspector General of Police has ordered massive security cordon of the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the World Economic Forum.
Mohammed Abubakar said it was necessary to ensure a hitch-free take off of World Economic Forum in Abuja on Wednesday.
He directed the “immediate deployment of men and equipment in the city centre and satellite towns for conducive, safe, and secure atmosphere before, during and after the forum”, according to a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, a chief superintendent of police.
Security is to be tightened “at all strategic and vulnerable locations, entry and exit points, airports, highways, hotels and venue of the conference”.

Abubakar “assured the citizens, international community and conference participants of adequate security”, the statement said.
He also disclosed that the police were working in collaboration with other security agencies and called for cooperation of the public.
Government has already announced that all schools and government offices in the Federal Capital Territory will be shut down summit.

Private offices were also advised to shut down in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.
TheCable had reported last week that over 6000 security personnel, consisting of police and army would be deployed, covering a secure area the size of 250 square kilometres.
Over 100 deaths and 200 injuries have been recorded in recent blasts at Nyanya, close to Abuja.
