Bello Matawalle, minister of state for defence, says newly promoted generals should intensify efforts in the fight against insecurity in the north-west and the rest of the country.
Forty-seven brigadier generals were recently promoted to the rank of major generals.
Speaking at their investiture ceremony on Thursday, the former governor of Zamfara said the newly promoted officers should inspire their subordinates and collaborate with other security agencies to surmount the security challenges confronting the country.
The minister said the promotion was a testament to their courage, dedication to duty and hard work.

Lagbaja said they should constantly seek knowledge on diplomatic, economic and political dynamics, in order to be logical and objective in their contributions to the army.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Gabriel Ajetunmobi, a major general, thanked the president for endorsing their promotions.
“The promoted officers were highly motivated to remain committed and dedicated to the service of the Nigerian army and the nation in general in consonance with the COAS’ vision,” he said.
