Mayweather and Pacquiao meet for the first time

What should be one of the most historic fights – and arguably the most eagerly anticipated one – in boxing history could take place after all as Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather met for the first time at a Miami Heat game on Tuesday night.

A welterweight fight between the two has long been talked about, but a deal has yet to be agreed but this meeting will help pave the way for the bout.

Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 knockouts) and Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) both attended the Heat’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, and like a boxing match, they sat on opposite sides of the arena.

But the two met at halftime and spoke to each other in person for the first time.

“He gave his number to me and said we will communicate with each other,” Pacquiao said.

In the past, the potential meeting in the ring has been ruined by drug testing squabbles and reported disagreements on how much money each should make.

But lately, it seems as if the two are closer than ever to coming to a conclusion.
