He had demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari should resign or be impeached over “bad governance”.
The presidency responded with an accusation that he is angry because his demand for government contracts was rebuffed.
In another statement, it alleged that some religious leaders were working with unknown persons to overthrow Buhari.
Femi Adesina, Buhari’s spokesman, had said disgruntled religious and past political leaders were planning to “throw the country into a tailspin, which would compel a forceful and undemocratic change of leadership.”

The statement was issued as a follow-up to the warning by the Department of State Services (DSS) of plans to “throw the country into anarchy.”
