Meta is set to launch a new video editing app called “Edits”.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, in his announcement via Threads on Sunday, said the app will be an all-in-one tool for creators.
“Today we’re announcing a new app called “Edits,” for those of you who are passionate about making videos on your phone,” he wrote.
“There’s a lot going on right now, but no matter what happens, it’s our job to provide the best possible tools for creators.”

In a follow-up post, Mosseri outlined the app’s key features, including a high-quality camera, advanced editing capabilities, and in-depth Instagram performance insights.
Currently available for preorder on the iOS app store, Edits is scheduled for full release in February, with an android version expected shortly after.
The launch comes amid the recent reinstatement of TikTok in the US, following a temporary ban due to national security concerns.

CapCut, TikTok’s affiliated video editing tool, also experienced a temporary removal from app stores alongside TikTok.
However, following a pledge from Donald Trump, the US president-elect, to delay the enforcement of the ban with an executive order on his first day in office, both TikTok and CapCut have been restored to app stores.
Meta has consistently demonstrated a proactive approach to market shifts.
In 2020, when TikTok was banned in India, the company rolled out Instagram reels.

Meta also launched its microblogging platform similar to X (formerly Twitter) in 2023.
