Metuh: Only the corrupt are afraid of probe

Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday urged the federal government not to be selective in the probe it intends carrying out.

Speaking in Lokoja, capital of Kogi state, during the ward congress of his party, Metuh urged PDP members to shun corruption.

“If your hands are clean, you will not be afraid of any probe’’, he said.

“We expect the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government not to embark on selective probing of public office holders found wanting before or during his government. Corruption is a crime against the people, the nation and our constitution.”

He said every legitimate means should be deployed to fight public corruption and that the approach to eradicating corruption in Nigeria must be just.

The PDP spokesman urged the would-be-delegates in the state’s congress to elect those that would pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.

Idris Wada, governor of the state, said the congress provided members the opportunity to change the history of the party in the state for the better.

“I urge delegates to choose wisely,”he said.

“Support any candidate that wins at the end of the congress. What we are doing here today will change the history of the PDP in our state.”

Meanwhile, Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, says the Buhari administration will limit its probe to the government of former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Adesina said going beyond Jonathan’s era will lead to distraction.

“It would be a distraction for the president to begin digging into all former administrations but for a proper take-off of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, there is the need to look into the immediate past government,” he told Channels Television.

  1. Why is the acclaimed brave and incorruptible man limiting his probe to only the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan! Why is he afraid of former Presidents like Babagida and Obasanjo? Are those Presidents saints, or do they have evidence of corruption against President Buhari? Somebody should tell me why is our no-nonsense Buhari exonorating those past administations? Is it only the government of Jonathan that stole Nigeria’s money? Is partial or ‘limited’ JUSTICE an attribute of INTEGRITY personified in Buhari? It is not in the honour of Buhari that at this early stage of his government, most Nigerians are fed up with him. Is this the type of ‘CHANGE’ he promised us! That almost two months in power, Nigerians are still buying fuel for #110.00 per litre! That the near-dead Boko Haram have revive and are winning the war of Islamazation of Northern Nigeria! That the NAIRA will be having unprecedent free fall against the US dollar? That there will be national ‘financial melt down’! Why!
