Metuh queried source of PDP campaign funds, says witness

Olisa Metuh, spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), questioned the source of funds given to him for media campaigns ahead of the 2015 general election, Collins Ifeanyi, a defense witness, has said.

Ifeanyi, a consultant at the PDP,‎ while giving his testimony before Justice Okon Abang of the federal high court, Abuja, on Tuesday, emphasised that the defendant made inquiries regarding the source of funding for the party’s presidential election campaign.

Metuh is a facing a seven-count charge of criminal breach of trust for allegedly collecting‎ N400m from Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA).

The money was said to be part of funds meant for arms purchase.

But on Tuesday, the witness told the court that a panel from the office of the NSA had invited Metuh for a meeting in November 2014, where he asked the source of the N400m deposited in the account of Destra Investment Limited, his company.

“The meeting took place in either November or December 2014,” Ifeanyi said.

“The first defendant inquired from the chairman of the panel where the money had come from.”
