MFM remain hot on Plateau’s heels as both sides record wins

Plateau United maintained their lead of the Nigeria Professional Football League with a 2-0 win against 3SC at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, on Sunday.

Goals from Emmanuel Odafe and Ibe Johnson took Plateau’s tally atop the league to 58 points.

Meanwhile, MFM FC, who have stayed within touching distance of United all season, beat Remo Stars 1-0 at Ijebu Ode.

Austin Ogunye’s penalty in the 71st minute helped the Olukoya boys maintain the second position with 55 points.

Tchoanfine Pade’s 26th-minute goal saw El Kanemi Warriors edge Akwa United in Maiduguri.

Akwa retain the third spot on the log in spite of the loss while El-Kanemi are fifth with 49 points.

In Calabar, captain Mfon Udoh scored the only goal of the game for Enyimba against Kano Pillars while in Enugu, the game between defending champions Rangers, and Rivers United was postponed to Monday due to heavy rainfall.

In other games played across the country, Wikki Tourist defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1, FC Ifeanyi Ubah drew 0-0 with Abia Warriors in Umuahia while ABS forced Katsina United to a 2-2 draw.

Nasarawa United beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0 and Gombe were held 0-0 at home by Lobi Stars.
