Jude Abaga, the Mr. Incredible, better known as MI has come out to speak on his ‘Chairman’ album, his strained relationship with Brymo, and the exit of his brother, Jesse Jagz, from Chocolate City.
Speaking on ‘My Music & I’, the award-winning rapper took some time out to speak about the people he referred to as his brothers, Ice Prince and Brymo, as well as Jesse Jagz.
“(The) track Brother is a track that people talk about a lot. It features Nosa, a chocolate city label mate; it also features Mili, Ruby Music,” he said.
“The first thing people ask me about is: ‘Who is the track for?’ Are you talking to Jagz, Ice Prince? Are you talking to Brymo? Who is it for?”

“The track is just saying, along this journey, you’re gonna meet people, brothers, along the way, you might part, you might not see each other in a while, you might fight, you might divide, and it’s happening everyday in our industry.
“It’s painful, but let us always look at our brothers and remember that we can’t do it ourselves and at the end of the day we need one another.”
Speaking particularly about Jesse Jagz, MI said: “When Jesse walked away from his Chocolate City contract and started Jagz Nation, everybody was wondering about the relationship between me and Jesse.

“But what you guys don’t understand is that Jesse and I are brothers. Before Chocolate City, Jesse and I wer; after chocolate city, Jesse and I would be. It didn’t affect our relationship.”
In ‘Chairman’, which featured 26 artistes, MI gave the label such an architectural masterpiece, the first eight tracks being the exact opposite of the last eight, while the track, The Middle, came right in the middle.
Monkey was a very difficult one for MI. It is a throwback to Igbo gospel music.
According to MI, the track took a year to record, with 12 different versions of the song recorded before a final one was achieved.

“To start from Igbo gospel music; highlife, to switch to hip hop, to switch back to Igbo highlife and back, it was so hard. But yeah, I love the song. In it, I talk about my struggles and how I finally overcame.
“It’s a good track. If you’re ever feeling neglected or beaten-up or shady or whatever, just listen to Monkey, and it would make you feel hyped and ready to go.”
MI’s first album, Talk about it sold 30,000 copies in the first 30 minutes of its release back in 2008, and went on to win the best rap album at the 2009 Hip hop World awards.
