Military ‘foils suicide operations in Borno’

The Nigerian military says it has destroyed a vehicle loaded with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Konduga, Borno state.

The explosives allegedly belonging to suspected members of Boko Haram were said to be meant for suicide operations.

Suicide bombers have struck across different communities in the northeast, particularly in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

PRNigeria, a public relations organisation, issued a statement to say Nigerian troops discovered the explosives during a raid at one of the hideouts of the insurgents.

It said many militants were also killed during the operation.

The public relations outfit quoted a top military source as appealing to residents to report suspicious movements and new or strange people to appropriate authorities for investigation and appropriate actions.

The military has been locked in a fierce battle with the militants in Konduga since Monday.
