Military to probe Maiduguri mutiny

Soldiers drafted to restore peace and normalcy in the crisis-ridden Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday allegedly shot at their commander, Maj-Gen Ahmed Mohammed.

The soldiers were said to be taking a pound of flesh on him for allegedly masterminding the death of four of their colleagues in an ambush by the Boko Haram militants.

Mohammed, who escaped unhurt, was attacked as he was entering the Maimalari barracks in Borno State.

Army spokesman Maj-Gen Chris Olukolade described the incident as an internal matter and said there was no need for public concern.
