Forget all the propaganda, south-west will vote for Jonathan in 2015, says Mimiko

Picking a running mate from the south-west will not deliver the zone to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 presidential election, Segun Mimiko, governor of Ondo state, has said.

APC has unofficially zoned the vice-presidential slot to the south-west in what is viewed as a tactical move to outdo the PDP in Nigeria’s second largest voting bloc.

Mimiko, who recently defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is one of the foot soldiers of President Goodluck Jonathan in the south-west.

Mimiko was speaking to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday after the launch of Youth Employment in Agriculture Programme (YEAP) and the Find for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN) by Jonathan.

Mimiko said: “I am saying this with all sense of humility, of enlightenment especially in appreciation of issues of politics… in terms of long history of progressive political engagement, you give it to south-west that they know their onions.

“Don’t forget that even in 2011 when Mr. President did not have any governor in the south-west, he won in all the south-west states apart from one.

“And I tell you, in the south-west, we can sift issues from propaganda. We know the difference between propaganda and the real stuff.”

He praised Jonathan’s efforts as president, maintaining that his achievements will speak for him.

“What we have seen today is real stuff. Everybody that was at this presentation cannot but come to the conclusion that the transformation agenda of Mr. President in agriculture is working.

“Again, this is real stuff; not propaganda. And I tell you, in the south-west, this election will be about real stuff, it’s about issues not about propaganda.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the south-west will vote for President Jonathan to continue along this path of very useful engagement and productive governance,” he said.

  3. Mimiko is a total disappointment to we people of ondo state and am so sure dat if he comes for the gov again he can never win in this state again because he’s a liar and a thief and he’s not even our leader in ondo state no to talk of south west, so he his not in any position to tell us who we should vote for, and for buhari he his a thief as they say bt that thief and propaganda list is who we want to vote for. Operation go home Jonathan ,enough of the life of our people u av wasted ever since u came in
