Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, says the passage of the 2024 budget by the national assembly will improve the lives of Nigerians.
Idris spoke on Saturday at the annual lecture and general meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kaduna state chapter.
On Wednesday, Tinubu presented the 2024 appropriation bill of N27 trillion before a joint session of the national assembly.
The president said the budget would cement macroeconomic stability and increase capital spending and allocation to reflect the priority areas of his administration.
Speaking on the 2024 appropriation bill, the information minister said the budget is the first step towards the actualisation of the renewed hope manifesto of Tinubu’s administration.
“As the 2024 appropriation bill moves through the legislative process, we are very optimistic that its passage will mark the beginning of a transformative era, bringing tangible improvements to the lives,” he said.
“Tinubu administration has been rolling out policies targeted at creating the enabling environment for Nigerians to thrive across all demographic categories.
“We must acknowledge that the government came into office at a very challenging time in our nation’s history.
“But President Tinubu has confronted all the inherited challenges head-on. Nigerians have as a president with a solid track record in the private sector and at the level of subnational government.”
The minister said Tinubu does not need the sympathy of Nigerians on the nature of the problems he needs to address as a president.
