MI’s ‘Incredible’ album out in 2015

In an exclusive interview with TheCable, ‘African Rapper No. 1’ MI revealed the release of his upcoming album, saying his fans will have it sooner than expected – before the end of the year 2015.

The album, which MI says will be called ‘Incredible’, is a story of realisation of his success and a continuation of the ‘chairman’ album released on October 30, 2014.

“I could probably put out a project in two weeks if I were just to finish up what I have already,” he said.

“But of course, me being me, I have to find a way to make it some sort of master piece. Every album is like a child. Beginning of last year, I wanted to do what Olamide did and release two albums back to back.

“But after I dropped this one, I am liking the way its breathing and not rushing into people’s faces. Then I’ll let it do that for a while and then I’ll drop something else. It’s not going to be up to a year, so before the end of this year, my next album should come out.

“The album is going to be called INCREDIBLE and it’s just a continuation of the CHAIRMAN story. Talk about it and MI2 are part of the same story. Chairman and ‘Incredible’ are also part of the same story but it’s more reflective. The CHAIRMAN album is very grateful and like thank God and thank the fans that I’ve come this far.

“Then INCREDIBLE is more of amazement of what has happened to you, around you and because of you and you are saying to yourself ‘that’s incredible’ and owning that feeling.

“It’s like that thing when a girl starts getting attention and she’s like ‘I might be hot’ and then she gets to the point where she knows she’s a beautiful woman and she says to herself ‘I am beautiful. So, for me, it is that moment in my career where I am like ‘I’m incredible.’”

In another excerpt from the interview, MI also explained how fame and money have shaped his perspective of life, and how his approach to the music business is paying off.

“Basically we were a CD-driven market before but now, we are a brand-driven market, which means that an artiste in 2015 first of all needs to ensure that their brand is competing in music space,” he said.

“What it means is that in my own case, if you think of rap music, you should think of MI as the best brand. Change is inevitable. But the thing about being changed by money and fame is that you are so busy being distracted by everything else that you don’t even know it’s happening.

“For me money and fame have given me access and there are certain rooms I must go into alone or without many people. That’s change for me.”
