A video showing US President Donald Trump asking immigrants to leave the country if they are unhappy has resurfaced on social media.
An Instagram user posted the video on Wednesday with the caption “wahala”, a pidgin word for “trouble”.
“If you’re not happy in the US, if you’re complaining all the time, very simply you can leave, you can leave right now,” Trump said in the clip.
“Come back if you want, don’t come back, its okay too but if you’re not happy you can leave.”

Comments under the post suggested the video was recent, with many expressing fears over the president’s four-day-old tenure.
Immigration is a key issue that Trump has repeatedly vowed to tackle as he commenced his second term in the White House.
However, Trump’s comments in the video were made in 2019.

His biting comments were a clapback at four Democratic congresswomen who accused him of racism during his first term.
Trump had said the women “originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe” and asked them to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came”.
After they labelled the president a racist, he doubled down on his stance in a news conference.
“If you are not happy, if you are complaining all the time, you can leave,” he repeated.

The president has since taken a series of actions aimed at curbing immigration since he came into power on Monday, including signing an executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship and sending troops to the border.
