The document being paraded as the secondary school certificate of Muhammadu Buhari is “not genuine” and “forged”, Abba Moro, the minister of interior, has alleged.

Speaking on Thursday evening at the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Markurdi, capital of Benue state, Moro claimed that those competing against President Goodluck Jonathan, candidate of the party, were “corrupt”.

“Today, I am going to speak to you on behalf of the youth, women and people of Benue state,” said Moro, who spoke shortly before David Mark, president of the senate, was invited to speak.

“We are here to let you know, Mr. President, that we will vote for you unanimously to become president of Nigeria for your second term. Benue people are happy with you. If it is the railway, it is because you are our president. If it is our dam, it is because you are our president. If it is the improvement in electricity, it is because you are the president.

“Those who come to equity must come with clean hands; those who are competing with you are corrupt as they are accused of corruption. Therefore Mr. president, we have seen the certificate; we know the difference between a genuine certificate and a forged certificate.

“I am a teacher, so I can tell you that the certificate on parade is not a genuine certificate. Mr. President, go home and sleep. Benue people are behind you; we are behind you; we support you; you will continue to be president.”
