Victor Moses is now a major doubt for Nigeria’s AFCON 2015 qualifier against Sudan after hurting his thigh in Stoke City 3-1 loss to Sunderland on Saturday.
The Super Eagles resumed camping on Saturday in Abuja for the first-leg qualifier in Omdurman on October 11 but the winger, on loan from Chelsea, may not be available for the game.
Moses provided the pass for Charlie Adam’s goal that tied the game at 1-1 but was substituted by manager, Mark Hughes 18 minutes into the game.
The former Wigan Athletic player first showed signs of injury in his team’s 1-0 win over Newcastle on Monday, but boss Hughes defended the decision to start him at the Stadium of Light.

“Victor had a bit of tightness after the Newcastle game,” Hughes said.
“We had him scanned and nothing showed on the scan. He trained Thursday and Friday and looked good to go. But he felt discomfort and we weren’t going to take a risk.
“We are hoping it’s nothing serious, but given nothing showed on the scan we’ve got to get to the bottom of what’s causing it.”

Moses was recalled by Nigeria for the double-header against Sudan after being snubbed by interim coach, Stephen Keshi in the games against Congo and South Africa.
The severity of the injury is yet unknown but it has cast doubt on his participation in the forthcoming games.
Nigeria are third in Group A, with one point from two matches while Sudan have no point yet.
Congo lead the group with six points and South Africa are second with four points.
