Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of the former late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, is dead.

She died on Monday at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, after a brief illness.

She was 102 years old.

She was the wife of Musa Yar’Adua — the minister of Lagos affairs from 1963 to 1966 — who died in 1993.

In her lifetime, the centenarian produced a president, two-term governor, vice-president, minister, major general, and a colonel, among others.

One of her sons — the late Umaru — was a two-term governor of Katsina state and later became Nigeria’s president from 2007 to 2010.

Another of her sons — Shehu — rose to the rank of major general in the Nigerian Army and was chief of staff during the military administration of Olusegun Obasanjo.

While her third son — Abdulaziz — is a current senator representing Katsina central and a retired army colonel.

In the buildup to the 2023 elections, presidential hopefuls, including Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC); former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; and Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), visited the centenarian at the Yar’Adua family house in Katsina.
